Ingredients
Mushroom – 200 gm, cut into pieces
Boiled potato – 1 diced
Oil – 1 tbsp
Cloves – 2
Cardamom – 2
Cinnamon – 1″ piece
Onion – 1 medium chopped
Green chillies – 2 slit
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Ginger – garlic paste – 1 tsp
Mutton masala / Curry powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
Chilly powder – 1/4 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/8 tsp
Tomato paste – 1 tbsp
Grated coconut – 1/2 cup
Water – 1 1/2 cups
Salt – to taste
Method
Grind the grated coconut to a fine paste by adding some water, and keep it aside. Heat oil in a non-stick pan and add the whole spices. Add onions, green chillies and curry leaves. Fry till the onions turn light brown in color. Add ginger – garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes. Add the spice powders and sprinkle some water. Fry till the aroma comes out. Add the mushrooms and fry for 5 minutes. Now add tomato paste, coconut paste, water and salt. Mix well and add the potatoes. Allow it to simmer for 5 minutes. Delicious and nutritious ‘Mushroom and Potato Curry’ is a very good side dish for rice, chapathi, porotta, dosa, idiyappam and appam. Enjoy!
Tomato paste can be replaced by one chopped tomato.
