Mussels Fry / Kallummekkaya Fry



Mussels – 250 gms ready to cook

Oil – 1 tbsp

Ginger – 2 tsp crushed

Garlic – 2 tsp crushed

Onions -1 sliced

Bird’s eye chillies – 2 slit

Curry leaves – 1 sprig

Coriander powder – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Chilly powder – 1/4 tsp

Meat masala – 1 tsp

Pepper powder – 3/4 tsp

Garam masala – 1/4 tsp

Salt – to taste



Heat oil in a non-stick pan and fry ginger and garlic followed by onions, chillies and curry leaves.  Add the spice powders and fry till the aroma comes out.  Add the mussels and salt.  Cook covered for 10 minutes and then fry on a high flame, till you hear crackling sound.  Yummy ‘Mussels Fry/ Kallummekkaya Fry’ goes well with rice, chapathi, porotta and bread.  Enjoy with your loved ones!
