Ingredients
Cabbage – 2 cups shredded
Prawns – 1/4 cup
Onion – 1 small sliced
Garlic – 1 chopped
Bird’s eye chillies -3
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds – a pinch
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Water – 1/4 cup
Salt – to taste
Oil – 1 tbsp
Method
Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Add onions, garlic, chillies and curry leaves. Stir for a minute and add the turmeric powder. Stir and add the prawns, salt and water. Cook for a minute and add the shredded cabbage. Mix well and cook covered till done on a low flame. Stir occasionally. Open the lid and stir-fry till the excess water dries up. It is a very good side dish and can be served with rice or chapathis!
Ilove cabbage made liks this especialy with prawns, back at home they were tiny prawnws which mom added .

Happy, you are right, back at home my mother used to add prawns to vegetables. I think it is more common in Kochi and we both are from the same place! 😀

I had never mixed vegetables with prawns before,
maybe because of living in Chennai or because I am basically from Palakkad.
