Ingredients
Breadfruit / Kadachakka – 1
Water – 2 cups
Salt – to taste
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Garlic – 4 small crushed
Small onions – 1/2 cup sliced
Green chillies – 2 slit
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Chicken masala / Curry powder – 1 tsp
Chilly powder – 1/4 tsp
Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
Methood
Remove the skin and the core of the breadfruit and cut it into bite-size pieces. Pressure cook the breadfruit along with water and salt for 10 minutes on a low flame, after the first whistle. Heat oil in a non-stick pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add garlic, small onions, green chillies and curry leaves. Saute’ till the onions become light brown. Now add the spice powders and sprinkle some water. Saute’ till the aroma comes out. Put the cooked breadfruit pieces into the pan along with the left over water. Mix well and cook covered on a low flame for 3 minutes. Open the lid and stir fry till it is dry. Yummy ‘Kadachakka Mezhukkupuratti / Stir-fried Breadfruit’ is now ready to be served. Serve it as a side dish with rice, chapathi, poori or dosa. Enjoy!
Wow, that looks delicious. I love to use breadfruits for cooking. Unfortunately, it is quite hard to find them here in Germany. I will definitely try that recipe. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
