Chakkakuru Mezhukkupuratti / Jack Fruit Seeds Stir Fry




Chakkakuru / Jack fruit seeds – 500 gm

Water – 1 1/2 cup

Oil – 1 tbsp

Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp

Garlic – 6 small crushed

Onion – 1 medium sliced

Green chillies – 2 slit

Curry leaves – 2 sprigs

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Chilly flakes – 1 1/2 tsp

Salt – to taste




Remove the white skin of the jack fruit seeds and soak them in water overnight.  Remove the brown skin, wash and cut each seed into two.  Pressure cook the jack fruit seeds with water for 10 minutes or till done, on a low flame after the first whistle.  Heat oil in a non-stick pan and splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds.  Add garlic and fry for few seconds.  Add onions, green chillies and curry leaves.  Fry till the onions turn light brown.  Add turmeric powder and chilly flakes.  Stir and add the cooked jack fruit seeds along with the leftover water.  Add salt and mix well.  Cook covered on a low flame for 2 minutes.  Open the lid and stir fry till the seeds are well coated with the gravy.  Yummy ‘Chakkakuru Mezhukkupuratti / Jack Fruit Seeds Stir Fry’ can be served as a side dish for rice or chapathis.  Enjoy!
