Chakkakuru Thoran / Jackfruit Seeds and Coconut Stir Fry



Jackfruit seeds – 250 gm

Water – 1 cup

For Grinding

Grated coconut – 1/2 cup

Green chillies- 2

Chilly powder – 1/4 tsp

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp

For Stir-frying

Coconut oil – 1 tbsp

Mustard  seeds – 1/4 tsp

Garlic – 1 tbsp crushed

Small onions — 5 crushed

Curry leaves – 1 sprig

Dry red chillies – 2 broken

Water – 1/4 cup

Salt – to  taste



Remove the white skin of the jackfruit seeds and pressure cook along with water for 10 minutes on a low flame, after the first whistle.  Allow it to cool and remove the red skin.  Wash and cut each seed into two, lengthwise.  Coarsely grind the mentioned ingredients.  Heat oil in a non-stick pan and splutter mustard seeds.  Add garlic, small onions, curry leaves and dry chillies.  Fry till the onions turn light brown.  Add the coarsely ground coconut paste, cooked jack fruit seeds, water and salt.  Mix well and cook covered on a low flame for 5 minutes.  Tasty ‘ Chakkakuru Thoran / Jack fruit Seeds and Coconut Stir Fry’ can be serve as a side dish for rice or rotis.  Cheers!
