Cabbage Molagootal



Cabbage – 2 cups shredded

Toor dal – 1/2 cup

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Water – 1 cup

Salt – to taste

For Grinding

Grated coconut – 1/2 cup

Dry red chillies – 3

Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp

For Tempering

Oil – 1 tbsp

Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

Urad dal – 1 tsp

Dry red chillies – 2 broken

Curry leaves – 1 sprig



Pressure cook cabbage along with toor dal, turmeric powder, salt and water for 5 minutes on a low flame, after the first whistle.  Grind the mentioned ingredients to a coarse paste and add to the cooked cabbage and dal.  Add more water if required.  Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.  Add the other ingredients and switch off the flame.  Add it to the ‘Cabbage Molagootal’ and mix well.  Serve mild yet delicious ‘Cabbage Molagootal’ with steamed rice.  Enjoy!
