Kakka Irachi Ularthiyathu / Clams Fry

Ingredients

Kakka irachi/ Clams – 500 gm

Onion – 1 big sliced

Ginger – 1 tbsp chopped

Garlic – 1 tbsp chopped

Coriander powder – 2 tsp

Turmeric powder- 1 tsp

Chilly powder – 1/4 tsp

Salt – to taste

For Frying

Oil – 1 1/2 tbsp

Green chillies – 2 slit

Curry leaves – 2 sprigs

Meat masala – 1 tsp

Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp

Garam masala – 1/2 tsp

Method

Wash the clams several times and make sure that there is no trace of sand left in it.  Squeeze the clams well. Pressure cook clams along with onion, ginger, garlic, spice powders and salt for 5 minutes on a low flame, after the first whistle.  Do not add any water while cooking.  Heat oil in a non-stick pan and add green chillies and curry leaves, followed by the spice powders.  Add the cooked clams and fry for 10 minutes on a medium flame.  Serve yummy ‘Kakka Irachi Ularthiyathu / Clams fry’ as a side dish with rice, chapathi, porotta or bread.  Enjoy!
