Ingredients
Gobi / Cauliflower – 1 big cut into florets
Maida / All purpose flour – 2/3 cup
Corn flour – 2/3 cup
Sodium bicarbonate – 1/8 tsp
Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt – 1/2 tsp
Water – as required
Oil – for frying
For The Gravy
Oil – 2 tbsp
Garlic – 2 tbsp chopped
Onion – 1 medium chopped
Green chillies – 3 chopped
Chilly Bean Paste / Red chilli sauce – 2 tsp
Tomato sauce – 6 tsp
Soy sauce – 2 tsp
Agino motto / MSG – 1/8 tsp
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
Water – 2 tsp
Spring onions – 1/2 cup chopped
Salt – if required
Method
Blanch the cauliflower in salted hot water for 10 minutes. Make a thick batter with maida, corn flour, soda powder, salt and pepper. Coat the cauliflower florets with this batter and deep fry in hot oil. Heat oil in a large wok and fry the garlic till fragrant. Add the onions and green chillies and fry till the onions turn pink. Add the sauces, agino motto, sugar and water. When it boils, lower the flame and add the fried gobi. Mix well till the sauce is well coated on the florets. Garnish with spring onions and serve hot. Serve ‘Gobi Manchurian’ as a starter or as a side dish for fried rice, noodles, pulao and rotis. Enjoy with your kids!
