Calamari / Squid – 500 gm cut into rings
Corn flour – 3/4 cup
Ginisa flavour seasoning mix – 1 sachet (Filipino seasoning)
Chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt – to taste
Egg – 1 beaten
Bread crumbs – as needed
Oil – for frying
Clean the squid and squeeze all the water out of it. Mix all the mentioned ingredients in a bowl without adding water. Add the squid rings and coat them well with the flour mixture. Dip each squid ring in egg and coat with the bread crumbs. Deep fry the rings in two or three batches on a medium flame, until golden brown. Lip-smacking ‘Fried Calamari / Squid’ can be served as a snack or a side dish. Enjoy with your loved ones!
Any kind of dip or sauce in not needed for this fried squid, it is so tasty on its own.
Crushed Maggi chicken cube can be used instead of Ginisa flavouring (available in Filipino or Asian supermarkets).
