Ingredients
Pumpkin – 2 cups diced
Green gram – 1/2 cup
Water – 1 +1 cup
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Chilly powder – 1/4 tsp
Salt – to taste
For Grinding
Grated coconut – 3/4 cup
Green chillies – 4
Garlic – 2 small
Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
For Seasoning
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Small onions – 4 sliced
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Dry red chillies – 2 broken
Method
Pressure cook green gram along with 1 cup of water for 5 minutes on a low flame, after the first whistle or till done. Cook the pumpkin along with 1 cup of water, turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt. Add the cooked green gram along with the left over water. Grind the above mentioned ingredients to a fine paste and add to the curry. When it starts boiling, switch off the flame. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add small onions followed by curry leaves and chillies. Fry till the onions turn golden brown. Pour it over the curry and mix well. Serve delicious ‘Pumpkin and Green Gram Curry’ with rice or chapathi. Cheers!
