Method

Clean and cut the beef (preferably with bones) into 2″ size pieces.  Boil, peel and quarter the potatoes.  Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add onions, ginger, garlic, green chillies and curry leaves.  Fry till the onions turn light brown in color.  Add all the spice powders and fry till the aroma comes out.  Now pour the thin coconut milk into the cooker.  Also add the beef, vinegar and salt.  Mix well and close the lid and cook till done.  Let it cool.   Open the lid and add the potatoes.  Simmer for about 5 minutes till the gravy is thick.  Now add the thick coconut milk, mix well and put off the fire.  Serve hot with appam, puttu, idiyappam, rice, bread, rotis or parathas!

I used Maggi coconut milk powder to make the coconut milk.  Use coconut oil if you want the authentic ‘nadan’ taste!
